O-M-G!!! Long Tall Sally is now at Tall Girls

Posted 3 March, 2010 By Lola | Comments: - | Fashion

Imagine the excitement I felt when I got the following email from tall girls today.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of our new, user-friendly website featuring Tall Girl’s and Long Tall Sally clothes”

SAY WHAT!!! Long Tall Sally is in the house and I don’t have to pay for international shipping … I can digg it!!

Tall Girls has been hurting for a while now…. to be quite frank.  I do find the odd thing there but I go there purely out of necessity.  I’m so overjoyed to see the the breath of fresh air that is passing through Tall Girls cuter clothes and even shoes too it’s totally about time.  It’s almost as if they heard me ranting the other day!!

Quickly I went to peruse the site and check out all the great finds I found

Just a Thought! ….

Posted 26 February, 2010 By Lola | Comments: 3 | Personal Note

Is it easier to be short and fuller figured,  than it is being tall and full figured???

I’ve been noticing that since I dropped a few pounds I’ve been shopping a lot more in the stores that maybe I normally wouldn’t go into but I’ve also noticed that because I’m a bit wider and tall that clothing tends to be a lot shorter.  I have a friend that has basically the same measurements that I do … off  by an inch or two depending on the area and she is able to find so much more things than I because she is soooo much shorter then I am!!

What happened to the days when manufacturers actually put a hem in garments so that people like me could have it taken out to lengthen things.  I find myself constantly having to but two things instead of one.

I think this little rant was a result of me being super annoyed …  sometimes I become so frustrated with finding clothing to wear that is reasonably priced, of relatively good quality and good fit.  I’m not aking for the world here am I???

Having one concern when looking for clothes is one thing but having two is another.

Feeling just a bit annoyed ….

My New Look

For the first time in over 20+ years I decided to do something that has shocked many including myself.  I decided to go O’Natural …. that’s right No Weave, No Glue, No Chemicals … No Nothing.  I cut my hair in fact I’m basically BALD.

What would cause me to do something so drastic …. well I was inspired by many things but I mostly just wanted a change.  I was really nervous about the whole endevour and consoled myself, be advising myself that I could always get a wig if it didn’t work out but I actually LOVE my new look.

It’s amazing how many compliments I get now and how many people commend me for my bravery.  A very close friend of mine encouraged me to go ahead with the transformation he assured me that it would bring out the face and features that I had been hiding behind weave and other extensions for many years.  I thank him!!

Cutting your hair can be a very liberating experience, for me it represents a new start to a new me and a deeper appreciation for who I am as a person.  In fact I’ve never felt more beautiful and free.

Tell me what you think.   Drop me a line or two!!

Gabourey, looks GREAT and FINALLY age appropriate on the upcoming issue of Ebony Magazine.  Featured in a Monif C top and close fitting tights for the bottom.  I like how fun her look is but I’m not sure how I feel about it overall.

What do you think do you like Gabourey’s look?

My favoute signer Mary J Blige and Catherine Malandrino have teamed up to design a T-shirt collection in honor of women’s empowerment.  The collection is called FFAWN + Catherine Malandrino. FFAWN stands for the Foundation for the Achievement of Women Now, it’s the charity that was started by Mary J. Blige in 2008.

According to WWD, the collection features tunics with hand-painted messages such as “I’m Free” and “I’m Power.” The off-the-shoulder tops pictured above retail for $39, will be sold in Catherine Malandrino stores and a percentage of the sales will benefit FFAWN.  Additional styles will play up an abstract illustration of a phoenix and the FFAWN logo.

I’ve been tryng to figure out if the t-shrts will be available in our size.  Haven’t been able to get a concrete answer yet!!  I really hope they do because this is totally a tee that I would rock!!

Mary J. Blige and Malandrino will be at Bloomingdale’s new 350-square-foot Catherine Malandrino concept shop in Manhattan on February 17th, 2010.  If anyone is in NYC pass by and get an autograph for me … lol

Monif C. Debuts New Swim Wear Collection

Posted 27 January, 2010 By Lola | Comments: 4 | Designer, Fashion

MonifC_bboard_Swim2010_v2_20100122

Monif C has really outdone herself.  The new swim 2010 collection is FAB-U-LOUS!!  I LOVE IT!!  I’m not a big fan of the swim wear that’s usually available for woman like me, but I think I would rock a swim suit or two from this line.  Infact I like them all!!

I would really love to try one on to see what the fit is like.  Usually the things that look good on Mia Amber (a model frequently featured on t Monif C site … for those of you who dont know) also look good on me.  We have a very similiar  build!! Since she wasn’t used in this particular shoot I really can’t tell … looks like I may have to buy one so I can see.

Now if the Monif C faires are listening I wear a size 16 … I really like the following
