I feel like CRYING!!

Posted By Lola | Comments: 1 | Personal Note

I just noticed that most of the pictures I took in JA, for some strange reason did not load on my laptop during the transfer from my camera to my laptop.

This means 90% of my photos are lost!!  I have no pictures to share with you all.  I’m really confused I have no idea what happened.  I only have 2 other videos that I can share.  I’ll have to wait and see if the rest of the gang that I travelled with have any shots they can share with me, so that I can share with you.

Stay tuned for more videos.  I was on a video shooting spree.  Special thanks to Michelle Ambrose my buddy and camera women for the duration of my trip!!

Lola on route to Jamaica

Posted 11 November, 2009 By Lola | Comments: 2 | Personal Note

Hey everyone, I must say I really missed being able to upload SV and all of you sooo much.  Getting a strong enough connection in JA was challenging which left me unable to upload while I was away  I’m back now and will be using the rest of this week to upload some of the pictures and videos I took while I was away.

Take a peek:

I’m going to Jamaica

Posted 5 November, 2009 By Lola | Comments: 3 | Personal Note

I’m going to the sunny island of Jamaica tommorow morning.  My flight leaves at 10:45 am est.

jamaica

My very close friend Tasha and her fiance Shean will be tying the knot on Sunday November 8, with the amazing Jamaican sunset as their back drop.  They have asked me to stand up for them as a bride’s maid.  This will be the second wedding I’ve participated in this year.

Now onto the fun part.  JA is a place where the word inhabition does not exsist.  Being a Triple F is the only way to go down there.  The men like their women round like an english pound!!  (If you are of West Indian decent or have any  WI friends then you know exactly what I’m taking about)

I can hardly wait to get there … the great thing is I’m going to be taking SV right along with me .. which means you get to come too!!  That’s right Lola’s going to be blogging live from JAMAICA!! Yeeeh Yeeeh

Stay Tuned… I will be taking lots of pictures of me in all my different outfits and some of the locals with great street style.  I’m planning on getting an amazing tan that will carry me through winter … got to find a nude beach so I can avoid tan lines.  I only have one problem … tried on my animal print bathing suit that I got from Old Navy this morning and guess what … it’s too big.  Where am I going to get a bathing suit now … only God knows.  Wish me luck and check back for updates live from JA.

Wants and Wishes

Posted 4 November, 2009 By Lola | Comments: 2 | Fashion, Wants and Wishes

Wants and Wishes, all the things I want to someday have and some random things I wish for.

As many of you know work within the financial sector, looking professional at all times is very important.  I have been looking high and low for a money suit … you know that power suit that just makes you look like people need to know you!! Well ladies I think I’ve found it.  Kiyonna unveiled some new arrivals the other day and when I saw this suit I instantly fell in LOVE!!  OKAY this suit right here deserves a DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!! Introducing the Kiyonna Signature Suit.  I got one word for you … BAD.  Check out the pleated detailing on the back of the pencil skirt.  I really hope the fit is on point.  I can so see myself in this ensemble with a great pair of heels and a string of white pearls with the matching earrings.  Are you all envisioning this with me??

Jacket $128 + Skirt $78 = $206 USD

Lola has to own this suit in fact I think I need two.  If the Kiyonna faries are listening I have 2 request:

  1. I need this suit in my life.  Talk to the Igigi faries they’ll tell you what to do!!! Feel free to ship one up north at your earliest convinience.  Size 18/20 should do the trick.  (I know many of you are thinking that I’m taking this begging thing to far but really I’m just telling the universe what I need in my closet.  Don’t HATE lol!!!)
  2. Please do me a favour and make this suit in another colour soon so I can have another gorgeous suit in a different colour.

Dare to Wear Love at Toronto Fashion Week

Posted 3 November, 2009 By Lola | Comments: 2 | Fashion

The Closing show of  Toronto’s LG fashion Week,  Dare to Wear Love, is a partnership between the Fashion Design Counsil of  Canada and Cutting Edge Fashion Designers Hoax Couture.  It was an amazing display of  designs from 25 of Canada’s top fashion designers  created out of fabrics sourced in Africa by the Stephen Lewis Foundation.  Lida Baday, Brian Bailey, Brose, Pam Chorley, Wayne Clark, Comrags, David Dixon, Evan Biddell, Farley Chatto, Greta Constantine, Izzy Camilleri, Linda Lundström, Lucian Matis, Ross Mayer, Jason Meyers, Price Roman, were just some of the designers that participated.

The show a perfect combination of creativity and glamour was created to build awareness and raise funds for the SLF foundation who has been working determinedly to turn the tide of AIDS in Africa.

Take a look at the beautiful pics.  Many local Torontonian Celbs were on stage struting their stuff!!

Needless to say the show was absolutely amazing.  It’s funny … being part Nigerian myself I’m always looking for ways to infuse the traditional fabric with the modern look.  I think all of the designers did an amazing job.

Lou Lou Magazine 14+ Edition

Posted By Lola | Comments: 1 | Fashion

While visiting one of my FAVOURITE blogs  The Curvy Fashionista, I stumbled upon this.  Shame on me for having to visit my fellow blogger in the USA to find out what’s happening right under my nose, this must have popped up while I was away!

Canadian Magazine Lou Lou has debuted a 14+ Online Shopping Guide.  Usually they just add a couple of pages to their regular edition but this time they made one just for us!!  How Special!!

louloufall09sarahslick

Now I must say that the styling and overall look of the guide is definately impressive but apart of me feels that it’s a bit misleading.  Living in Canada and knowing what it’s like to shop in these stores,  I also know that the clothing never looks the same when you get into the store to try it on.  I think there may be a little case “Bait and Switch” going on here!!

I’ve almost given up on shopping at Pennington’s and Addition-Elle because of the repeat disappointment I experience almost every time I go into these store.  I very rarely find anything that looks good, fits well or that isn’t overly priced.

Just for you my faithful readers … I will try again just to see if things have changed and I will let you all know what I find.  Maybe I need to enter the store with a clear mind and open heart instead of with all of the bad experiences from the past.  Wish me luck Fashionista’s.

Check out the Magazine the layout is super fab!!  Click Here
