Vogue.com recently posted a response to a question sent in by an avid reader.

Versace designer; Donatella-needs to eat a footlong-Versace answered the following question.

The reader asked:

“Why do designers typically refuse to design for sizes above 10? This question is not meant to be confrontational; I’ve just always wondered about this. Is it simply a prejudice? Wouldn’t it be a good business decision? I can understand not wanting to start a stand-alone plus-size line, but what about extending sizes to 14/16? We have money, too!” —Daphne L. Scott, Chicago

Donatella responded with her poor attempt at a politically correct but dumb answer:

“We do offer larger sizes at Versace, but I take your point. I certainly wouldn’t want to do a plus-size line, as I have no problem with women of any size wearing my clothes. I guess some styles lend themselves to being scaled up, while some others just don’t work. Sometimes it can depend on the specific piece.”

HOGWASH!! That’s what I say, if you ask me it sounds like Donatella has fat-phobia, which is clearly evident by the way she looks. Looks like she spends a lot of time with her finger down her throat and her head over the toilet.

So what exactly is this women trying to say? Donatellaneeds to check herself. She looks hungry and everyone knows you need a certain amount of carbs to keep your brain in good working order.

Versace is not, I repeat NOT a Triple Friendly Designer, these designers needs to realize how strong our buying power is as a community and learn to do right by us. I’m soooo not impressed!!

Looks like LB is trying to make a comeback with some of their new pieces for Fall. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked the LB site yesterday and came across the New Icon Collection.

I remember back in the day, I used to travel from Toronto to Buffalo all the time primarily so that I could visit Lane Bryant. It’s been quite a while since I’ve actually bought anything from LB other then bras, panties and Spanx.

I was excited to see their attempt at being more fashionable again. With the emergence of so many Plus Size Designers, I think the people at LB realize that their consumers have more choices then they did before. It’s nice to see they have stepped up their game.

The New Icon Collection is not over the top fashion forward but it is very nice, I could see myself in quite a few pieces. Most of the items are good foundation pieces to have in your wardrobe.

I will be going to Buffalo sometime shortly. I have a shipment in from Nine West that I have to pick up from Auntie El’s house, so I’ll be sure to stop by Walden Galleria to see the new collection in person and of course I’ll have to stop at Torrid too, but if any of you across the border happen to be in LB before I am let me know what you think of the new pieces.

Check out the pieces Lola Loves and if you heart them too drop me a line and let me know!!

I didn’t fall in love with everything on the site but they did have a few evening dresses and a couple tops I thought were nice. I’ve included my favourites.

They do not ship to Canada yet but they do ship to the USA. Canadians don’t worry I’ll be contacting them to inquire about shipping to us too!! I’ll keep you posted on the update.

Wish: I REALLY WISH Banana Republic carried bigger sizes!!

By day I am a business owner that works with in the Financial Sector. Appearance is everything in my line of work. Looking Sharp is very important. I’ve been looking to invest in some moderately priced, good quality suits that I can add to my wardrobe. I was searching the net and came across these pieces at Banana Republic. I love almost all the looks in the collection and even the shoes came in my size.

Am I the one who is totally out of the loop here. Why wouldn’t they carry up to at least a size 20, Old Navy, Gap and BR are all owned by the same company yet they only offer larger sizes in one of the 3 stores. This just goes to show that some retailers just don’t get it!! Looks like I’m going to have to go the custom route if I’m going to really find something that I like. Lucky for me I have some old contacts overseas that are really good at making good quality items for the right price. I was just hoping I could find something closer to home.
